Question

Can't Record

I'm new to Audition. Up until yesterday, I was able to record in Audition with no problem. But now, here's my problem. I can no longer record. I can listen to previously created files, but not record a new one or even add to an old one. When I first open Audition and have no file open, the signal from my microphone is detected by Audition. I can see it in the Levels scale at the bottom of the screen with Meter Input Signal checked. However, if I open a new audio file or even an old one, the Levels scale ceases to react to sound even though Meter Input Signal is still checked. If I attempt to record, I get nothing. When I stop the recording, if I check the Levels scale again, Meter Input Signal is no longer checked. I'm confident this is an Audition problem, as I am able to record in Audacity. In case it has a bearing, my interface is an Audient iD14.

Anybody got a fix?

Is this in Waveform view, or Multitrack? And what version of Audition are you using?

Good evening Steve. Thank you for weighing in so quickly.

In looking at the screen, I see "Waveform" in the top left corner, thought grayed out a bit. It also shows "Multitrack" though I only ever done in the past one track as I'm doing voice over.
