Can't undo effects settings with CTRL+Z ?

Can someone explain how to undo an effect setting ? 

Let's say I open a new EQ, if I make a setting on it and then try to CTRL+Z it undoes opening the EQ and closes it, instead of undoing the setting I just made 

What am I doing wrong ?
