Cannot connect to Mackie HUI in Windows version of Audition

I own an old-fashioned Mackie HUI panel which i connect to my windows PC using a MIDI-USB cable. This works fine using ProTools, but when i try to connect to Audition and select the HUI protocol, it tells me that it has problems accesing a resource (HUIConfig).

If i use the same setup on my macbook everything works fine, if i install Audition on my Windows 10 laptop, i get the same problem.  Anyone has some idea?

Have you tried selecting the Mackie protocol, instead of the HUI one?

When i select the Mackie protocol, i do not get the error, but the original HUI does not “speak” the Mackie language, so it will not work

The only suggestion that I could find relating to this (and it’s worked on a Cubase installation with the same problem) was to try using a different USB socket for the Mackie. Sounds daft on the face of it, but it has to be worth a try, doesn’t it?

Thanks Steve, I thought i tried everything, even another PC, but i gave your suggestion a try anyway. No difference.   Some additional detail:  So i go to the Control Surface settings where can add a HUI device. I then need to click “settings” so i can select the MIDI interface to use. When i click the settings button, instead of the expected popup window, i get the error window.  It *feels* that Audition is expecting a config file somewhere that it does not find or does not have access to. I even tried to run Audition as Administrator, but no difference.
