Clipping during the recording process

While recording an audio track in Audition, we are experiencing clipping at -6.  Is there a way to raise that threshold to 0?

    This isn't an Audition issue - Audition only records what it has been sent from your sound device and makes no alterations at all. If you are experiencing clipping, it sounds as though you have a gain control set too high. What sound device are you using?
