Close All Crashes

Very rarely do I click "close all files" when working with more than one file does it go smoothly.

If I have even three or more files open, one track, 4-5 minute mp3s, and choose "close all" it hangs and sometimes crashes.

When I have more than a few files open, and I try and "close all" it won't work. I have to choose 2-3 at a time, and "close selected."

Only a few times has this worked, (closing all quickly and uncrashingly), but most of the time, it takes me a few minutes to slowly close all the files down.

If I exit without closing, next time I open it opens all the same files that were open before I closed.

What can I look at to fix this?

I'm running Windows 10 on a dell desktop with plenty of resources.

My old laptop with much less resources never had this issue.

You might want to try running Task Manager and seeing what activity suddenly peaks when you do it. If that doesn't make it clear, then there's some more in-depth monitoring software from Sysinternals available free on the Microsoft site.

Well I've just tried it here on this Windows 10 laptop with a huge number of files, and it closes the lot in an instant if you use 'close all'. So I suspect that this has something to do with other software on your machine. Malware detection, Virus detection, and anything else like that have been found to be guilty of  interfering with file operations in the past - you might want to experiment a bit with this, for a start. One thing to try is putting all of your working files in a location that isn't scanned by any of these intrusive bits of software, and seeing if that helps.

Like I said, it was closing all files fine on my old laptop, so I know it's possible.

I have the same software on this machine as I did on the other one. I checked in Malwarebytes and exluded Audition but I still have the same issue.

This issue also doesn't matter where the files are stored.

I've also turned on sync, but that didn't have any effect.

Other than that, I have no idea what to try. Otherwise it's working fine.
