Sorry, you can't fix this in Audition. In waveform view, the only monitoring you can do is via a direct link from the input to the output in your sound device. It's always been like that, and there's no possibility of altering it, because you aren't actually recording a direct file - you are recording to a temporary file, and your recording only becomes permanent when you save it.
