Connecting Skype as an audio source thru VAC into Audition

I am trying to incorporate Skype as an audio source on a separate audio track in a multitrack recording on my Windows 10 computer.

Going through previous Posts, I discovered and downloaded VAC. Now I'm trying to follow the instructions on the Example section and I just can't figure out how to do what the directions ask: In Skype, how do I assign recording/input to Virtual Cable 1 and assign playback/output to Virtual Cable 2? Do I need Skype for Business? The rest of the directions seem as challenging as this first one.

I would greatly appreciate some help in walking through the steps for how to do this!

It's a bit of a nightmare. These days we recommend using one of the available Skype recording apps - they are significantly easier to use. But if you really want to do it, there are some walk-through videos on YouTube with fairly detailed instructions - this sort of thing: Setting up Virtual Audio Cable VAC with Skype - YouTube
