Hello,

How can I convert a male voice into a female voice in Adobe Auditions CC?

Best wishes.

Not really well.

You can use the pitch changer under Effects/Time and Pitch to raise the key of the voice but there are lots of other subtle differences that Audition can't imitate so the results tend to sound a bit artificial most of the time.

Sometimes not so subtle! Men often have a much larger laryngeal prominence than women, and it's stuck at the front of an enlarged larynx that's actually a different shape from a woman's one. And since this is the foundation of your voice, the resonances it produces are considerably different. Pitch shifting can simulate some of this, but you need to make sure that you don't shift the formants for the best results, as a rule.

I tried to “talk like a girl” (I am a guy!) then pitch shift up 6 semitones, but people said it sounded strange. I found “Adobe Voco” was demonstrated a few years back at a conference, but looks like it was just a play project. Only (non-Adobe) product I have found is Voice Changer - Download - Voice Changing Software— but I was not happy enough with the results to use it.

I would really love it if there was some parameterized processor in Audition that could pitch shift everything but the formants. I think that is what the other product above attempts, so it must be somewhat possible...

I wanted to use it with Character Animator - much faster if I can do all the voices for a cartoon myself.
