Question

"Corrupt" multitrack session

This issue began last week after updating macOS to Monterey 12.3 (using Audition 22.2)

At first upon opening multitrack sessions, the following error message appeared on a previously perfectly functional multitrack session: "Corrupt File: not a valid RIFF file. /Volumes/Video Storage 1/Shows/Sessions/220124/Imported Files/Theme_Intro Copy.wav Error: Corrupt File: not a valid RIFF file."

The same message appeared for all other files in the session and would not load the files.

Today I attempted to open another previously used session (used weekly for two years) and the following error message appeared: "/Volumes/Video Storage 1/Shows/Mortach/Show Elements/Grantham segment/Grantham segment/Imported Files/Mortach - Grantham Evergreen intro part 1.mp3 Error: Unable to initialize for decoding."

In both instances, the "link media" button is greyed out and not available to re-link the files for some reason.  Additionally; the file locations have not moved.  Starting over from scratch after years of work would be quite frustrating and I hope there's a better solution!

FYI - I have tried re-installing Audition (and even later versions just in case), and it's not helping.

Hey @MikeBauer

I've been having a similar issue for several weeks since updating my OS and version of Audition. I store my session and project files in Dropbox (synced to my MacBook Pro). What worked for me was to copy the session and its files to my desktop, move the conformed files out of their folder, and then reopen the project. The riff issue went away, and in its place I got a Link Files message which let me re-link my files and proceed as usual.
