Cracking sound in headphones, feeback needed :)

Hi everyone,

I am creating an audio in Audition with some beating monaural frequencies.

On my HP Pavillion Laptop I hear a cracking sound in my headphones when playing the sound, but it is fine when playing it on my android phone (same headphones).

I'd be grateful if some of you could test the sound and tell me if they too hear the cracking sound here and there, maybe it's just my pc sound card, or the headphones jack... but the issue appears only with this particular beating frequencies so it's probably hardware related.

You may download/test the sound here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsTklv288baFpUOVRFGpI0LevOmx

Any feedback is appreciated!

Replays fine on my system. Could well be a limitation in the capability of the inbuilt soundcard to drive your headphones at a reasonable level with that type of continuous tones. Have you tried any other headphones or external amplified speakers plugged into the same output?

That's what I was thinking...

but since other people may have a similar issue, I'll add some ocean waves background to mask eventual cracking sounds.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Well they shouldn't have any such problems using any decent audio interfaces or headphones. If they did then I would have to suggest that they listen using something better since there would seem to be no point in them listening if they can't hear the full effect of the beat tones IMHO.
