Question

Creating gapless tracks from a multitrack project

Any advice on breaking a long multitrack project into gapless stereo tracks for streaming - with no clicks or pops on transitions. Do I need to use markers to define the split points? If so, how does exporting work?

Thanks

Don't quite understand the question. You can create a mix file and if it's saved as a Wav there's no effective limit on the size, because it's stored as a broadcast RF64 wav. This gets over the 4gb file size limit imposed on 32-bit files, and if you open one up and play it, it will play continuously for as long as you want - at least days. By default, the export wav settings in Audition are RF64, but if this has been changed, it's easy to put them back.

Thank you Steve

Sorry if I didn't explain myself very clearly. The issue here is not about file size, it's about splitting a single recording into separate chunks/tracks. I understand that Audition has an 'Export to CD tracks' option where it would split the recording into separate tracks based on markers set in the Audition session. I'd like something along the lines of that but not burning to a CD.

So, let's say I have a one hour multitrack mixed session in Audition. I want to export the whole session as a stereo mix but I also want to break it into 10 separate gapless tracks, based on markers I have set, and export each of those as a separate track

I know that I can do this manually by selecting the sections between each marker and then using 'copy to new' and then exporting each of those but I was wondering if there was an easier way?

Thanks

If you open the stereo mixdown in Waveform view and put marker ranges around each section you want to export, then you can use the tools in the Marker panel to export each range as a separate file. To do this, you need a marker at the start and the end, and individual markers where you want each break to be. Then you highlight all the markers and hit the 'merge selected markers' button next to the rubbish bin, and they will be converted into marker ranges. When you've done that, highlight the marker ranges in the list, and select the tool second from the end, which lets you export the selected ranges to separate files, named with whatever names you gave the ranges. You get a dialog box which lets you set a few things - like the destination, but that's easy to follow.
