creating practice tracks with vocal on one channel and instrumental on the other

I have an adobe audition question ... I have two files in multitrack that I would like to mixdown/save to wav or mp3 but have the two original files be each the left and right channel of the stereo.

Assuming that it's a stereo session, then use the pan control for each track - it's in the track controls. Pan one hard left and the other hard right. If the original files are stereo, then you might want to convert them to mono first, otherwise you'll lose some of the information in each.
