Creative Cloud Saving Issue - Session Missing?!

Hi y'all - I was working remotely on Friday 6/28 from three different planes and four different airports. I spent about 5-6 hours working on a 2-3 minute session that was scored with 6-7 stems. I have my Audition set to autosave and I 100% pressed save each time I opened a new session or closed out of the application. I also exported the final file, but didn't export the tracks separately as I thought it was saved.

Evidently being on crap wi-fi means that you aren't getting the full saving experience to cloud. Really hoping that the session is saved on my device/hard drive somewhere?

Now that I need to go back and make edits to the track, my session is no where to be found. Or rather, when I open the session in the Adobe folder that corresponds with the Imported Files folder (which has all tracks in it), it is a version from a few days previous, missing all files, and 6 hours of work down the drain. I was able to find about 10 different session files in the "Back Up" folder but none of them even have the tracks in them that I was working on.

I tried to contact Adobe but the chat system is zero help. I kept getting messages asking what the issue is after detailing it 5 times...

Anyone have tips as to how to find the session?

I'm afraid that our experience of this dictates that in order to get a reliable save across a network - any network that is, not just crappy wi-fi - the way to do it is to make a local save first, and then just export the files. Whatever you do, don't rely on the network for a direct save from the software, because all bets appear to be off if you do that; it's pretty much Russian Roulette.

If you go to the 'recent files' list and you see just the name of the session you were using (rather than a path) then the session file's probably in what Audition uses as a default location. Since you haven't said whether this is Mac or PC, I can only tell you that on a PC, it's in the user's Documents folder under Adobe>Audition>12.0, and I would imagine that something vaguely similar happens on a Mac. But if the session is listed with a path, then that will be where it is - just follow the path.

But I must re-emphasise - if you want to save remotely, then the only sensible way to do it is to do a local save first, and then transfer the files. And don't lose anything until you've proved that you can download it again. And trust no original material to it. I realise that this all sounds a bit harsh, but the much-vaunted 'you can save everything in the cloud' scenario that everybody raves about really doesn't amount to anything reliable at all. If you think about it, this makes some sense; you are effectively sharing a finite channel into a storage facility with a load of other users on a first-come first-served basis - with individual bits of file, and over a bit of wet string. And if you're doing this from the software, you've got an additional hurdle to overcome on the way to your remote location - the file-save action of the software itself, as well as the flaky network interface. I would say that it was amazing that it works at all, but since a lot of the time it simply doesn't, I'm not going to. Quite frankly, about 100% of the time you're better off just saving to small portable drive on the side of whatever it is you're editing on.

Yeah I guess I assumed it was saving locally but should have double checked. Thanks for the insight - lessons learned the hard way this time around.

I'm sorry, but I can't resist...

Just because you're working in a plane, it doesn't make cloud storage work any better...

Since I didn't share the chat transcript here, I'll add that I did say I was using Audition 12.0 and explained the issue five different ways.

I posted in Creative Cloud section of the forum since the files seem to save there and I'm having issues locating the session data. Was hoping someone would have experienced this in the past and found their most recent session before.

Discussion successfully moved from Adobe Creative Cloud to Audition

Well, I suppose that if you started your story like this one you got the agent on the other side confused about what the problem is.

You should state your hardware, OS version and AUDITION version. I suppose the problem is that you can't find back your data.
