Can anyone tell me if Adobe Audition works across Windows and Mac OS on a MacBook Air?

What do you mean by 'works across'? It's different code but functionally the same. You can transfer session files from one to the other, and assuming that the audio is uncompressed wav files, they transfer as well. But no, you can't load the code for one on the other - that won't work at all.

Thanks, it's just that I'm replacing my old laptop with a MacBook Air and want to use my audio files hopefully Adobe Audition is available for Mac OS.

Yes it is - but you may have to make a few adjustments to the Mac security settings before it will let you actually record anything...
