Dealing with tinny/scratchy audio

I'm admittedly new to this program, I haven't ventured much out of Premiere and Photoshop so excuse my ignorance. During a recording, some of my audio suddenly becomes very tinny and scratchy when the volume goes higher. My assumption is that this is just a recording problem and I won't have any luck trying to fully fix it, but if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make it a little more listenable, I would be grateful. Thanks to both of you for your responses! That's what I figured, but thought I'd ask. I did find that lowering the treble reduced some of the static fuzz that was on top of the voices, although I mostly just worked around it. The interference came in and out across the hour-long recording, so there was still useable parts luckily.

What I hear (sorry SteveG!) is the sort of interference that the lavalier radio mics I see you're using can cause, especially if their batteries are beginning to fail.

I doubt there is any way to successfully remove this, at least I've never found a way to do so!

Sorry - I should have added that what I do hear on the clip is an AGC system working on one mic, and although it sounds like interference, I don't think it is, as such - it's a gain pump. Yeah, could be a battery failing, but whatever it is, you won't be able to fix it.

Strange - I don't hear that on your clip at all...
