Deleted vocals still heard in the Waveform

Why is it that vocals that I deleted in the multitrack I can still hear in the waveform?  It's as though I never made the edits.  I want to make some sound adjustments in the Waveform and I want to hear the changes with my edits.

    Firstly, you can't delete anything in multitrack - it's non-destructive, and doesn't touch the original at all, under any circumstances. But I'm not entirely sure what you are saying here - exactly what steps are you taking? To edit the actual waveform in a file, you have to do it in Waveform view, as that's the only place you can make a permanent change to a file.

     

    Any 'edit' you perform in Multitrack view simply alters the playback performance of a file. Yes you can make a lot of changes that will be audible that way, and obviously cut it up as well, but all of that is non-destructive.
