Unfortunately, without being able to hear your audio, it is almost impossible for us to suggest what might improve the sound.  If you are able to post a short sample (in wav format, most definitely NOT mp3) to a file-hosting site (like Dropbox) and then provide a link in this thread someone may be able to assist you.

But, if the audio is bad because the "mic settings were wrong" (what should they have been and what were they?) any real improvement is highly unlikely, I fear.

If it really is 'distorted', then there's nothing that anybody can do to fix it - that's a physical impossibility, as there's no reference point to what it should sound like. Without that, you can do nothing. And if you have it, then there's nothing to fix anyway...

Unfortunately a lot of people have somehow got the idea into their heads that what they see and hear on CSI is actually real. Just as unfortunately perhaps, I'm afraid it isn't; there is no magic bullet.

Why did you move it here?  After Effects SUCKS at audio.  I recommend the Audition forum -- it's an actual audio application.

[because he wants to edit video and after effects is..., oh nvm.]

[moved from After Effects to Audition CS5.5, CS6 & CC]
