Question

Does anyone know why my file export is coming out with 30 seconds of silence at the end?

Hello Family,

I am the host of a radio show and have been using adobe audition to edit my shows, but now when I export my shows they have 30 seconds of silence at the end of the clip.

Would anyone know how to fix that? Thank you.

P.S. I also make Gospel DJ drops that are usually around 15 to 20 seconds long

and I have tried using export selection when exported my dj drops and the silence at the end is even longer.

Example: A 10 second dj drop will have about 40 seconds of silence at the end.

Any help is appreicated.

God Bless you

Pastor Dre

Guys finally I found a solution for this problem. Select the Time selection tool by pressing the key "t" and start selecting from the beginning to where do you want to end the clip, then go to the file, export, multitrack, time selection. And its done.

Hello all, I know it's been a while that this question was asked but I was going through the same problem and I finally found a solution. In Adobe Audition If you're about to export your file, I recommend selecting all the audio clips in the multitrack session. A "control A" or "Command A" will do that for you. Afterwards when you click export multitrack session, instead of choosing the "entire multitrack session", you can just choose "Selected Clips" and then export. It will automatically cut off the extra lenght at the end of the recording. I hope it works for you because that worked for me.

FIGURED IT OUT!!!

Kevin here with Prog Radio.  We use Audacity for our radio edits and I was having this problem and it was driving me CRAZY for the longest time.  With radio, edits need to be spot on.

I FINALLY found out what the problem was.  It was effects like Reverb in the effects panel that require some additional time at the end of the track for the ending reverb, echo, etc.

Solution 1:  Turn off or edit any effects that are causing the problem.

Solution 2: Mix the track down with the effects, then reload the file and cut the extra space off and mix down again, but this time without the effects (since they are already there from the first mix down).

Hope that helps others from pulling their hair out.

Kevin

Since my last post, I found a third solution that I now use to fix this:

3. Use automation on the effect.  This is the one I use.  In the multitrack editor, show the envilope for the effect, and simply drop it off a second or two before the track ends.  (See screenshot.). This will put the effect on the entire track, other than the last second or so, so you don't get the mystry silence spilling over past the end of the track.

I've looked and looked for a solution to this for months, and THIS WORKS.

As an audiobook narrator, this is essential for me because I do batch exports across numerous tracks.

I wish there were an easy way to identify the effect that is triggering this. If anybody figures it out I will be even happier.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have the same issue and the solution @SteveG_AudioMasters_ stated did not work as I have nothing after my tracks but a non-removable blank area. I've tried exporting just the selected clips, which is supposed to ONLY export the selected clips as stated, and it still adds the extra 30 seconds of empty audio at the end.

I constantly find Adobe to fail on things like this in all of their softwares. Seems like yet another bug to fix to me.

I wanted to note: I get the 30 seconds of additional space while marking the Out Point (Hitting "o" on the keyboard where you want the track to end).

(This is from another reply, but I'm actually quoting myself, and I can't really improve on it...)

Often this happens when you don't realise it, but you've left a tiny fragment of a clip at the end of the timeline. The best way to check for this is to click on the 'zoom out full all axes' button at the top right corner of the Editor display. If the large gap is still there, there's somthing on one of the tracks you need to remove. An alternative is to select just the amount of the session you want to use, and do a mixdown selecting Time Selection as the option.
