Question

Echo beyond selection

I am trying to echo a small part of a track, therefore I want the echo to go beyond the selection I have made so it continues into the track.

The Original CEP had this function as a tick box, but it dropped out in early editions of Audition.

Any solutions to this?

Yeah, I have worked the idea of adding silence, but that actually means cutting a track, adding silence, then replacing the track.

Quite a large work around for big files especially when CEP used to have a button "extend echo beyond selection".

It appears Adobe, for all the money I paid, is less effective than Cool Edit Pro for something so simple *sigh*

Is Cool Edit Pro available for free?

I'm a bit confused by your problem.

Are you working on multiple separate clips in the same track of is it just one long track?

If it's multiple clips, you probably best off merging them into one single track (click on the first clip, the Cntrl/click on subsequent ones then right click and select merge.

As for controlling how far an effect goes, you can use the Automation Lanes to actually set exactly where and how quickly you want an effect to fade out.  There are lots of good tutorials available on Automation lanes.

However, if you have  single track and want echo to extend beyond the end, this should be happening automatically in the newer versions.  Indeed, a common complaint here is from people doing radio or TV stuff needing an exact time and Audition adds a few seconds to finish an echo or reverb tail.

Which version of Audition are you using?

Automatically extending a track for reverb or echo tails came back quite a few versions ago--but the quick work around if you have an old version without that facility is to insert extra silence at the end of the track/clip for the effect to extend into.  FYI I'm sure I recall having to do that in the later versions of CEP, prior to Adobe.
