Editing audio files

Hello,

I'm using Adobe Audition version 3.0.1.

I have several hundreds of short audio files in wma format and I'd like to edit all them in exactly the same way: change the graphic equalizer settings and reduce the noise. Nothing else. I can open the first file, make the necessary changes, save it, then open the next file and so on. But if I keep on doing that it'll take a lot of time, because there are hundreds of files! Since the changes I'm making are exactly the same and the files are all of the same type, is there any way I could change all the files at once without having to deal with each file individually?

Yes. It's called Batch Processing available from the File menu. Normally you just drop all the files into the Batch Processing window that opens. Not sure if it will work directly from the .wma files or if you may have to convert to .wav first. However you will need to save your editing processes into an Audition script first so that it can be applied to all the files in the Batch.

Thank you for your answer! Could you please tell me how to save my editing processes into an Audition script? I open the first file from my file list, change the equalizer settings and apply Adaptive Noise Reduction. What do I do next?

In order to create a Script for applying your effects you first have to Record it. Open one of the files that you are going to work on. Then go to File/Scripts which will open a Scripting window for you. enter a title for your processing script and click on Record. Then work through all your effects processes and when completed again click on Scripts in the File menu and Stop Current Script to end the recording. Then click on Add to collection to Save it.

Back in the Batch Process window you will then be able to select the actions from the Run Script tab which apply all the effects to the Files opened into the Batch window.

See also the Help for Scripts and Batch Processing. You can also add a Script into your Favorites menu and give it a keyboard shortcut. It can be applied to any file you have open in the Edit view at the click of a button rather than having to use the Batch Process if you only have a few files to process..
