Editing in Audition, Mouse problems

Hello, I'm new to Audition, and have been using Cool Edit Pro for 20 years, which was sufficient for my purposes as a voiceover artist. But with the last Windows Update it didn't work anymore, so I'm thinking about switching to Audition.

I tested it with a friend, and everything is great except the editing. When I'm listening in after recording and want to cut out breathing sounds at the same time, the system hangs a bit. Also, I often have to click several times to get the mouse pointer where I want it to go. Maybe this has something to do with the "second mouse pointer", the dotted line (excuse my ignorance what that is called). Question: can I turn that one off, and thus switch to the simple and stress-free mouse pointer like in Cool Edit?

Thank you very much for any help

I've had the same problem for a long time.
I was looking for answers and then I went to mouse settings and clicked of "Enhance pointer precision"
Wow...... it fixed the problem. Now I can click anywhere and the mouse behaves properly.

Hi there,

I have been having the same issue, but it solved for me after i switched to a different mouse. (if you are using a logitech mouse then try changing the report rates and check).

You don't say if you are editing in the Waveform view or the Multitrack view (the latter being the best to use for most things).
If the 'system hangs a bit' it could be slow disk access so make sure you are recording to your fastest internal drive.

Not sure what you mean by this 'second mouse pointer' - you can select 'move', 'razor', 'slip' or 'time selection' tool (pointer) among others. It might be best to try and identify the one you mean? Or maybe even a screen shot might help.

I see, it is difficult because of my english PLUS lack of
tech-knowledge...I am sorry. I mean the dotted line, before sec 12 in the
picture.

in the second picture you see what happens if I highlight a region, let's
say, to cancel it, and the playhead goes on. In this case, if I want to cut
the marked area out while the playhead goes on, it is difficult, often does
not work on the first click, So again, I would prefer if possible not to
have the dotted line. Does this exist? Thank you for your kindness to

Sorry but the images aren't visible.

Either way I don't think it is a good idea to be trying to edit while the play head is moving but that is just me
