Editing in Multitrack ?

Question

Hi ,

I am Editing an Interview only in Multitrack.

So I only have one track and I only need one track.

1. Is it possible to reduce the amount of track to 1 and the master track?

2. When I am editing like in premiere with "cmd k" applying an edit the track

gets deselected?

But when you are editing, this is not what you want the program to do. because

you need to select the layer again and again to "ad edits" .

Is there a way to tell audition not to behave like this?

Or how can I edit non destructively without having this behavior?

Yes I know I can use the Razor tool, but for this I also have to use the mouse or trackpad

and can't do the edit with a simple shortcut..

It´s way much faster to edit the complete timeline with shortcuts.

I can play forward and back with j k l and then place the edit wherever I want to?

3. And for this I need to zoom into the "sample" of this specific edit?

Is it possible with one shortcut to just jump into the "zoom factor" of the sample.

Then i would see the wave and could edit the track at 0.

Is it possible to make a script that does this?

Is audition like AE able to have such a plugin, or does this plug in exist?

1. Yes you can just Delete any empty tracks that you are not using by going to Multitrack/Tracks/Delete Empty Tracks. Or if you are starting a New session from scratch just choose the Empty Stereo Session template and just add the file that you want to edit.

2. Not exactly sure what you 'editing' workflow is from the description. Are you just cutting out bits from the one track to remove spaces and unwanted bits etc.? could you just run us through the steps that you are taking to do the edits. If you are moving through the file by Playing or J,K,L shortcut keys then you can use the I & O shortcut keys to mark you in and out points and then Ripple Delete to remove that section. The default keyboard shortcut for 'Ripple Delete Time Selection in all Tracks' is Alt+Backspace. But this can be changed to any key that you want in the keyboard Shortcuts menu.

3. If you are running the latest v. 12 of Audion CC 2019 then you now have the option to Zoom to Time. There are five Time Presets that you can use and, although there are several default presets there, you can customise them to be any length that you want around the Playhead. Again you can select keyboard shortcuts for the Zoom Time Presets, there are none set by default at present since this is a new feature. there is also the

4. Probably not necessary. It is worth looking into the Keyboard Shortcuts menu as there are many unassigned ones that could be useful for your workflow. Other commands worth looking into would be Zoom to Selection (Shift+S) and Play Skip Selection which would allow you to zoom in on the waveform between your selected In and Out points and skip over the selection portion when playing to preview the Edit.
