Effect Preset Default to Custom After Session is Re-Opened

Does anyone have any idea how to view the preset that was selected in any of the effects once the session has been closed, and re-opened? For whatever reason-the preset default to "custom", as oppose to displaying the preset that was previously selected. This has always been an issue for me, but I decided to check to see if anyone else found a work-around for this situation

Thanks for your input, I figured that, however-certain effects are impossible to duplicate simply by duplicating the settings as they completely alter the sound of the vocal sorta like a filter so to speak, so in those cases it won't work completely; but thanks again.

So basically there's no way for me to tell which preset I selected once it defaults to custom...

No, there isn't - you just have to open the session again and see if you can work it out from the settings.

An effect setting in a session isn't stored as a preset, for one very simple reason; it is possible to automate it in the session, whereas in stand-alone mode you can't do this. So storing a preset and using it is fine for a session, but it's not the preset as such that's stored in the session file. If you alter the settings on an effect in Multitrack mode, and think that you'll want to use those settings again, then you have to store them as a new preset. What should happen then is that next time you open the effect in waveform view, it will default to the last preset used, but if you open the session again, then it will pick up the effect settings in the session file and open those as 'custom' - because they aren't a preset as such.
