Effect Routing: Send to Bus Track, then back to source track and apply an effect?

Hi!  

 

I need to layer effects in a certain roder in a multi-track setting: "Effect A" then "Effect B-Z". Effect A is the same for all tracks and ust be the first effet applied. Then, I need to apply a different effect on a track-by-track basis: Track 2 gets "Effect B", Track 3 gets "Effect C", etc...

 

Can this be done in audition??? I can't seem to figure out how to make that happen.

 

I'm on Audition 13.0.6.38.

You may be overthinking this! If the settings for effect A are the same for all tracks, then just set it up once on the first track, and save the settings as a preset. Then apply the same effect, with that preset, to all the other tracks, putting it first in the effects rack for each one. Put the other effects in the rack lower down. As long as effect A isn't particularly resource-intensive, this should work fine without any bus tracks at all.

Thanks Steve. What you suggest is the way I'm doing it now; unforuntily, effect A is indeed very resource intensive. That is why I was hoping to have 1 instance of effect A, have a bus send all the tracks to that 1 instance, and then back to aply the other effect.

 

Ii just can't ifgure out how to route to a bus track, then send the audio back to the soruce and apply another effect.

 

Is that possible in audition?

No, you can't do that, I'm afraid. Audition's mixer is modeled on a 'real' mixer, and I'm not aware of any that let you route buses back to the channel they get a send from. Leaving aside any other constraints, you would introduce latency into a track where there wasn't any, and that would require something of a major rethink.

 

Normally if you want to do something like that, where all the sources need to be treated, you'd do that processing step first, possibly outside the session, and remove the need for anything like this at all.
