Effects automation/evolution - multitrack
Hi folks.
During a project I'm working on, I have a slow autopan that only needs to be applied to a music bed at certain times, based on when there is a silence longer than 4 seconds in the voiceover track, and then returning to central panning when the voiceover resumes. It needs to do this smoothly, with no obvious jump in the panning.
The easiest way for me to do this would be to have the effect in the effects rack of the music bed permanently and then automate the wet/dry of the effects rack, or the individual effect when required. But I can't see any way to automate effects or plot any evolution of effects properties.
I could achieve this result pretty easily in Ableton but I'd rather keep the whole project in Audition. Does anyone have any ideas how I can accomplish this?
As I was writing this I thought maybe I could sidechain the autopan in some way - but I'm not sure what I would sidechain it to!
Although the autopan is only required when there is a silence of more than 4 seconds, it would need to come on at the START of that silence, not after 4 seconds of silence.
Many thanks in advance for anyone that can take the time to help out. I'm using Audition CC.
