Question

export

Hello, I've mixed up a bunch of songs and have them laid out one after the other.  I'm trying to create an album.  Some of the songs overlap.  The the following song fades in while the current song fades out.

Over all I'm trying to send this project off to a cd manufacturer to create a hundred cds.  They want me to export the songs as individual .wav files.  How do I retain the overlaps I've created while exporting the songs as individual .wav files?

Thank you,

Karl

The normal way to do this is that you submit a single file with CD track breaks where you want them. The usual process here is that you'd create a master CD with all the track breaks positioned on the single file, and send that to the duplicator - they'd just create your CDs from that. But at present, in the current Windows release of Audition, CD writing is broken (there are details elsewhere). So that isn't an option, I'm afraid - you need the previous release to do it, which should function correctly as far as CD exports are concerned.

On top of that, the actual process has to be done carefully. If you get the track breaks in the wrong place, you'll end up with short snatches of silence; the snapping has to be set to Frames to avoid that (there are 75 of those per second) and it's sensible to set the time display to Compact Disc (second option down if you right-click on the timeline and select Time Display) as well. So basically you need to mix your session down to a single file, and then put CD markers in it. If the duplicator can't cope with that, then I'd find another one that can!

I have to say though that commercially, you wouldn't use Audition for this process anyway - you'd use a DDP creator like Sonoris to create your master files, but that isn't exactly cheap...
