Export continuously while recording?

Question

I plugged the earphone output from a Radio Shack Pro-652 Scanner into the microphone input on my computer and I am experimenting with recording the scanner feed. I use Windows 8.1 Pro and the most updated version of Audition CC. I was curious if there were any options for exporting the audio files automatically at certain intervals while continuing to record? Also curious if there is a sound activated recording option? Further, if I wanted to replay the radio traffic immediately is there any way to do that while continuing to record? Forgive my ignorance but I've been googling for an hour and I'm not getting anywhere. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much!

Well, depending on your sound card, you can probably export continuously by ticking the little "I" box in the the Edit section to the controls to the left of the track. The "I" stands for "Input" which means the input to Audition is routed straight back to the output. Note that this will be a continuous output, not "at certain intervals".

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to use input levels to trigger recording. There is a timed recording option--right click on the record button and select 'Timed Record Mode', then when you hit it again you'll be able to set up you record parameters and, finally, there will be a screen to set the time you want recording to start.

I suspect this isn't what you want--Audition is more a tool for high quality audio production and post production rather than the sort of thing you appear to want.
