Extracting the Melody for songs using Audition OR ....

Question

Can someone tell me which tool works well for transcribing music, Audition or one of the other audio supporting tools? I want to extract the notes played by ear and using the software looping through segments so I can play them on guitar. I have been working with Audition to do this but I am not sure it is the best option.

If there is a learning session on this you can point me to that would be helpful.

If you want to do it this way, Audition is as good as any - repeats are easy to set up and will run for as long as you want. One thing I would recommend though, if you aren't super-confident about doing it, is to do some ear training - there are quite a few training aids out there. For instance this one, but there are others too.
