Hi, guys! Not an expert in audio editing, just want to know if it is even possible to clean such a file (attached) to more or less listenable condition?

    Hi Vadik,

I've downloaded and auditioned the file.

It's very hard to extract speech from this file.

Both channels only contain audio upto 1000 Hz and only the left channel contains speech. The right channels only contains noise.

Extracting only the left channel, only the lower part of the male voice is audible but severely mixed with broadband noise ( 0 Hz - 1000 Hz )

Is it done by applying some custom noise reduction filter? Fast googling didn't help (

I first converted the file from a stereo to a mono file ( Shift + T ) setting the left channel to 100% and right channel to 0%. Then I used the FFT filter ( Effects -> Filter and EQ -> FFT filter ) to remove all below 150 Hz and above 1K. Finally I used adaptive noise reduction ( Effects -> Noise Reduction / Restoration -> Adaptive Noise Reduction ) to further separate the noise from the tonal content. Cheers
