Question

File formats issue when saving

We are working with Audition 3.0 and just yesterday, after recording a track, we tried to save it and rather than the usual dialog box that showed wav file as the default, the file was listed as "L1".  And when you tried opting for another file format, wav files and mp3's were not available.  The file can save as L1 and I can open in my Audition 13 and save it as an mp3 or wav there.  So I'm not losing anyything, but this seems concerning to me.  Can anyone help? Is there some setting that they might have switched?

Thanks.

This used to happen quite regularly. The fix is to find the wave file option that's got renamed, and save another file to it. The one thing you have to do differently is to put the full extension at the end of the file - so you type [myfile].wav instead of assuming that the file save will append it. Next time you use it, it will have retained the .wav extension instead of L1, or whatever.

Thanks for the help.  I will let you know if it works.  Sounds sort of logical.
