Files sound different on Waveform than on multitrack

Hello all, I'm trying to figure out why audio files that I record sound great on waveform, and then a bit muffled on multitrack (and consequently, my exports). I'm almost certain it has to do with my recording set up, and I plan on tinkering with this setup, yet I want to see if anybody has any other reasons why this happens.

I use an i-XLR mic adapter and record using the DOLBY ON app, in a closet that isn't too big, nor too small. I transfer files from my phone to mac using the Airdrop feature. As I mentioned, the file sounds great on my phone and in waveform, yet muffled on multitrack and exports.

When you put it into Multitrack view, which template do you use?

Hi! I saved my own template based off of the (none) option that comes when opening a new one.

The only difference you are likely to spot is that due to the default pan law settings, the Multitrack output is going to be 3dB cooler than listening in Waveform - unless you included other plugins in your template, of course. Since Multitrack operates internally as a 32-bit FP app, you can make that 3dB up at any stage, losslessly - so really it doesn't matter.

Personally I'd record dry, without any strange apps in the way, and do whatever processing might be reqired in Audition anyway. This way you've always got the original to go back to if you don't like the results - sometimes that happens in the cold light of day...
