First word muffled in mixdown - Adobe Audition

Hello!

I am having trouble with my finished product sounding muffled for the first word after I mixdown. There is music playing at the intro. Everything sounds great when I play it back prior to making the mp3, but once it's completed, the final file consistently muffles the first word on each recording. How do I fix this?
