Question

Gain- Different Levels from Rodecaster Pro

Hello, I've been having some trouble with my new all-in-one PC and Adobe Audition. Using a Rodecaster Pro along with Rode's Pod Mic. My main issue, which has never occured until now, is when I record it is extremely loud, which I'm assuming is the gain is turned up too much. However, the levels are normal on the mixer and if I play it on the mixer it sounds right, good levels... so it must be either my computer or Audition itself. How can I fix this?

It will be your computer, because Audition has no means whatsoever of altering signal levels going to it - it records faithfully whatever is sent to it. On the screen after you've recorded, what do the levels peak at? The amount of 'loudness' doesn't matter - it's the actual levels that count.
