Question

glitch in converting mp3 clips to .wav

Whenver I uploaded an mp3 file and inserted in the multitrack, it was immediately converted to .wav

However, it has happend few times  recently that an mp3 clip was not converted and was playing as mp3.

Just now, I imported four mp3 clips. When I inserted them into the multitrack, only one was automatically converted to .wav. the other three remained in the mp3 format, and yet are playing normally.

I understand that Audition always converts mp3 to .wav so this looks like a glitch but very strange as one clip has been converted.

What is going on here?  do I need to manually convert those three clips into .wav?

please advise, thanks.

Hi,

Under file panel check the sample rate of the session file and compare it with converted mp3 files. the file which was converted have different same sample rate. In order to match the sample rate mp3 file were converted to wav.

hi

your comment is confusing.

" the file which was converted have different same sample rate"

different or same?

by the way - why can't i insert just a part of the post as a quote , as it inserts the whole copmment?

here is a screen shot

the session file is with 48000 Hz sample rate when i import a 44100 Hz test.mp3 into session with 48000 Hz sample rate then it will get converted to test 48000 1.wav

Since it absolutely can't play them without decoding them, I think you'll find that it has - you just haven't figured out how it's displaying the information yet. Can you provide a screen-grab of your Multitrack display, with the files list showing?

Sure. As you can see, only one of the four clips  (Spacer) has been converted to .wav.

Intro, Promo and Outro are not converted and yet they are playing!

Screen grab attached.

I can't see the LHS of the files panel where the twirl-downs are... you might want to look and see if they've been sublisted. The clips certainly don't say MP3 on them, do they?
