I want to adjust the level of the audio in a wmv file

Audition doesn't have the ability to strip audio from .wmv files - indeed it can't handle them at all, certainly not in its native guise. Even if you could find a plugin for it, then you'd still run into the audio stripping problem. You need video software that can open the file, and separate out the audio from the video into a format you can work on, and then re-converge it.

Windows Media Video? You can't convert an Audition session file to that!

A session file only contains information about how the files it references will play. Even if you mix it down with all the correct files, you'll still only end up with audio - no video. I think it would help if you explained exactly what it is you're trying to do...
