How can I record volume changes using sliders on a multi track recording?

I recorded a band (20 separate channels) I now want to go back and mix it with the sliders and have audition save my slider positions as the music is playing back. For example when a guitar solo happens, I want to bring the guitar up a little and other things down a little. I don't want to manually add keyframes. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Is this possible?

I hope I was clear. Let me know if I wasn't.

Thanks,

Dean

Automate mixes with envelopes in Adobe Audition CC and scroll down to the bit about Record Track Automation.
