How do i Stop the automatic scanning for pitch display?

Everytime i silence a part of my wave, the scanning for pitch display automaticly starts and i takes like between 40 to 60 seconds. Is there a way to stop this? it is a really long process everytime i need to silence a bit of the file.

Are you actually using the pitch display? If you aren't, then go to the View menu and turn it off; the default spectral display refreshes much faster.
