How I create a table of contents?

Hey,I use Adobe Audition to record an audiobook, edit my audio tracks and individual files. Now I am on the verge of completion and have come across the following problem:I have to create a kind of table of contents/ contents in which you can jump back nad forth between the chapters. This playlist must be playable by all standardized mediaplayers. I have already created a playlist with corresponding markers within Adobe Audition. Can I get this configured?I am looking forward to now useful advice.Greetings from Germany,Nadine

This is a bit of a can of worms...

I'm afraid that you can't do this with single files - chapter support is not part of any metadata specification, and there's no such thing as a standardised media player - yet (see below). Placing markers in Audition doesn't actually do anything to the file metadata at all; the markers are added to the end of the recorded audio and you never see them as such, but it allows software like CueListTool to manipulate it separately, for instance. But audio with Audition markers will only play back and actually show the markers in Audition (and I think iZotope's RX) - there's nothing universal about it at all.

If you do a search using the term 'How do you create an audiobook in chapters?' you will find all sorts of methods available, but all of them involve starting with separate files, and that's fundamentally what you have to do - separate the files out, and follow the steps for whatever format you wish to release in.

There is some work being carried out currently which may result in a much clearer and easier way to create Audiobooks in the future - if the protagonists can agree - look here.
