Question

How to clean up out of sync audio?

So here’s my problem:

I recorded some videos in OBS using a camera and external audio. I didn’t realize until after the fact that there was a hidden audio track that was also recording from the camera. This wouldn’t normally be a problem except I put an 800ms delay on my external audio track. This created a very noticeable echo on my final recording. Is there any possible way in Audition to correct this? The only (maybe) positive thing is that the audio track from the external source is a decent bit louder than the other audio source. Any tips, tricks, or miracles would be greatly appreciated.

The only way you could possibly fix this would only work if you have access to a standalone version of the 'rogue' track from the camera. If you have that, then you can create an inverted copy of it, and if you match the position of this against the completed track, you might be able to cancel it out, if you get the matching levels correct.

Other than that, no chance I'm afraid - delays like that can't be removed by other means because the wanted and unwanted signals are, to all intents and purposes, on top of each other making any other form of potential removal impossible.
