How to make cut music audio sound like the note/instrument(s) is being played out?

I was trying to mix some music but I noticed that some clips had their audio cut short before the instrument(s) were finished playing out. I ignored it at first, but when I listen to the music in full, the cuts are very noticeable. I found an edit of one of the same clips to almost sound like the instrument(s) did finish playing out. Anyone know how to achieve this or just in general how to make it sound like a note/instrument finishes playing out?

The way I have done this in the past, put your music on the first audio track, cut the track just before the last note and copy the last note, in sync, on to ttrack 2. Add a reverb effect at 100% wet to the second track and adjust tr2 level until it sound correct. As with all things audio your ears are the best judge for reverb type, decay and level. You may want to put a short fade on the end of the last note on tr1 and possibly a fade on the start of the note on tr2.

You could try adding reverb to just the last note

Just reverb or one of the others (surround, studio, etc.)? Also do you know if I should add the reverb effect to that note or make a duplicate of it and place it right after the original w/o the reverb?
