Ok, say i am just planning on using the one USB headset, how do I record the Discord audio?

Presumably that is down to how you set up Discord. I suspect to will have to ask on their forum as to how you record from their software. In Audition's Audio Hardware set up page you then have to select whatever recording source Discord presents, either from their driver or from the Windows recording set up.

To capture audio from Discord using Adobe Audition CC 2017, you can use a virtual audio cable. Here’s how:

    1. Install Virtual Audio Cable: Download and install a virtual audio cable software like VB-CABLE (Virtual Audio Cable).

    2. Set Up Virtual Audio Cable:

      • Set "Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" as your default playback device in Windows sound settings.
      • Set "Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" as your default recording device.

    3. Configure Discord:

      • Open Discord and go to "Settings" > "Voice & Video."
      • Set your input device to your microphone and the output device to "Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)."

    4. Configure Adobe Audition:

      • Open Adobe Audition and go to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Audio Hardware."
      • Set the Default Input to "Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" and Default Output to your speakers or headphones.

    5. Start Recording:

      • Create a new audio file or multitrack session in Audition.
      • Arm the track you want to record to by clicking the "R" button.
      • Start recording to capture audio from Discord.

This setup allows Adobe Audition to capture audio from Discord via the virtual audio cable. Adjust levels and settings as needed to ensure optimal recording quality.

To record your friends' audio on Discord using Adobe Audition CC 2017, you can use a virtual audio cable. Here's a quick guide:

      1. Install Virtual Audio Cable: Download and install VB-CABLE.
      2. Set Up Audio Cable: In your Windows Sound settings, set "Cable Output" as the default recording device and "Cable Input" as the default playback device.
      3. Configure Discord: Set your input device to your microphone and the output device to "Cable Input."
      4. Configure Audition: In Audition, go to "Preferences" > "Audio Hardware" and set the Default Input to "Cable Output."
      5. Record: Create a new audio file in Audition, arm the track, and start recording.

This setup routes Discord audio through the virtual cable, allowing Audition to capture it.

It depends on what audio interface you are using. If it is a built in soundcard then your options may be limited particularly if you are using Win 10. So we need to know a bit more about your system before we can give a fuller answer.

I am using Windows 7 (might upgrade to 10 eventually), I have no dedicated audio interface. I plan to use 2 mics on my end at any given time. One is a USB headset, and the other is a 3.5mm jack.

Lots of online instructions on how to get Win 7 to record your desktop audio. How to Record the Sound Coming From Your PC (Even Without Stereo Mix)

Unfortunately you are very likely to run into problems trying to record your two differently connected microphones into Audition using just Windows built in soundcard and USB. They don't mix together too well. If you want to take podcasting seriously you really need to get an external USB audio interface with two mic inputs. They don't need to cost too much.
