How to Share an Audition Project

I shared my audition project (.sesx file) with a collaborator so that he could edit sections of the project. We both have copies of the original audio files. When he opened my project and linked it to the original audio files on his computer, his audition opened the project but it was missing all of my edits.

To run a test, I downloaded the project (.sesx file) I had shared with him to a different folder on my computer so that Audition would ask me to re-link my project to my audio files. I opened the project, audition asked for the link, I linked the project to my audio files, and the project opened up with all of my edits.

Why does it work for me but not for him: why won't the project open up on his computer with all of my edits? I've shared projects like this with others in the past, and it's always worked.

If you sent him the latest version, then yes, all of your edits should show. What you need is SuiteSpot to have a look at your .sesx file - he's the expert on this. Hopefully he'll be along at some stage and see this.

Thank you for your reply. He has the latest version, and as I mentioned, when I download the version I sent him to a new location on my computer, and then re-link the project to the original audio files, the project opens up and includes all of my edits. But when he opens my project, and links it to the original files, it opens up as an un-edited project.

We first shared the project via dropbox and thought dropbox was stripping the audition .sesx file of some kind of metadata that audition required. I have since shared the project with him via Google Drive, and we have the same problem. I really want to understand what is happening.

An sesx file is pretty dumb in that it either has an edit saved or it doesn't.

You have proven that the sesx file contains the edits you made and you have proven that the sesx file was available to be downloaded.

The only thing we don't know is exactly which sesx file your partner opened at his end - the assumption is that he opened the one you made available but the facts don't support that premise.

My suggestion is to rename the sesx to something totally different and unknown to your partner and then email the sesx to him (and me if you like info@aatranslator.com.au) and get him to open that one

If there is still an issue (and I can't believe that there would be) get him to email me the sesx he opened and I will check them both
