How to stop AU3 from stopping when switching windows?

The other day, AU3 crashed my computer while I was editing and I had to do a System Restore. Now, it's working fine again except it will only play when I am in the AU screen. As soon as I alt-tab to another screen, it stops playing. It has never done this before, and I've been using it since 2009. Is there a setting somewhere that prevents it from doing this?

For my job, I have to be recording my voice in AU while tabbed to a window in my browser with copy to read. If it's going to stop every time I tab away, I'm in a dilemma regarding my employment.

Go to Edit>Audio Hardware Setup. You almost certainly have a check in the 'Release ASIO driver in Background' box, probably in both the Waveform and Multitrack tabs. You should remove both of them, because that's what is disconnecting your audio when you shift app focus.
