howto prevent video from getting stuck and then coontinue delayed during editing

I have a little but annoying problem. While synchronizing audio with video on, the video freezes randomly and then continues but the original audio got unsynch even more thanks to this making it imposible for me to continue working. Is there any tip or tips you can give me to prevent a bumpy playback? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked to see if there's an update for your video driver? With Windows systems especially, this has become a bit of an issue. It's even possible to check on a Mac, apparently - although I've been led to believe that it's not such an issue.
