HUD disappears in Multitrack

I'm sure there's something obvious I'm doing wrong, but I lose the HUD when switching from waveform to multitrack. I'm certain that "Show HUD" is selected in the View menu, and I've tried toggling it on and off to see if I can find where it might be hiding--with no luck. Thanks for any help you can offer. --Paul

No you're not doing anything wrong - the HUD is only active in Waveform edit mode, and that doesn't apply in Multitrack at all, because it's non-destructive. So yes, it's supposed to disappear when you switch between Waveform and Multitrack. In Multitrack, if you leave the Properties panel open at Basic Settings in a floating window, whenever you highlight a clip, the clip gain becomes instantly available in the panel. That's the HUD equivalent in that view - gets over the problem of how to make a selection for a single control. But that clip gain only applies to the use of the clip in that session - it doesn't make any permanent alteration to the gain.
