My file sizes are reaching upwards of 140 mb even though the files are only 12-14 minutes long, cause really long upload times, how do I fix this?

There's nothing to 'fix', as such. If you record and save as a 44.1k stereo 16-bit wav file, that gives you 44.1k x 16 x 2 = 1411.2 ksamples/second. Divide that by 8 gives 176kbytes/second. Multiply that by 60 gives you 10,584 kbytes/minute - that's 10mbytes/minute. Multiply that by your 14 minutes gives 148.176 mbytes, so what you are reporting is about correct.

In other words, what you have is absolutely normal. If you want a smaller file, then you have to save it to a lossy format, like MP3, or to a format like FLAC. You'll certainly get a smaller file size with MP3, but you'll lose quality.
