Question

I need to export clips with the names that are in the multitrack?

I have created a template project. Where some clips will need to be changed in and out but the main structure stays the same.

Id like to save a backup of all the core audio that will be in every template incase anything goes wrong.

So basically I need to export everything from the multitrack with the names that are on the clips rather than the original track names.

Is this possible?

if not why not ? 😞

(it is the audio in track 3 that will be personalised to each listener all other tracks stay the same in every export.)

Seems to work fine here. I renamed a clip in a session, and saved the session. Upon reopening, the clip still had its changed name - this is saved in the Session file. Just to check, I also saved this as a template, and the same thing applies - the clip name change is saved in that too.

Yeah the name remains in the session.

But I need to export all of the clips as batch audio and keep the name from the session rather than original track names.

this doesn't seem possible?

No it's not possible to do that - well not presently. The audio files have file names, and that's all - there is no metadata format for an alternative name, and that has nothing to do with Audition. What you save in a multitrack session is the file name, and the name that any clip has within the session - nothing to do with the file at all. You can have as many different clip names as you like, but it's not possible to store them within the file itself - only the session file or a template. The thing about clips is that you can't actually 'export' one; they are virtual, and essentially only a part of an existing file. So if you want to export the audio, at present it inevitably has the file name that it originally came from. Even if you try to convert it to a unique copy, any name you've given it will be replaced with the original file name.

I'm not saying that it wouldn't be possible, but you'd have to put in a feature request to allow exporting a clip with the name you've given it, rather than its original file name. Personally I think it's quite a reasonable idea, but I have to tell you that if the corporates don't want it, it's unlikely to happen - they generally call the shots when it comes to features getting added, because they're the ones with seats running into the millions in some cases, and money talks.
