i recently had to reinstall my audition cs6 and cant remember how to get rid of the default "crosshairs". i want the red vertical line to move to wherever i click on the screen. i can't where to change that setting. i also need it for highlighting

    The toolbar at the top of the screen, underneath the menus is where you change tools:

    You get a display that shows the ones appropriate for whether you're in Multitrack or Waveform view; these are the Multitrack ones.
