Import and reimport of growing audio records from third party recorder

Hi all,

we are currently using Audition CS6 and need to produce time-critical highlights of some live events for one of our customers.

To be able to deliver finished highlight clips in time, we have to import audio files that are still growing and where recording from a third party system is ongoing. We then cut out the important parts and create subclips out of it.

Importing of that growing (not finished) files is no problem in Audition. The audio file is imported with latest progess of record. But importing it this way can only be done once. If we try to reimport that file after a while Audition doesn't do that as the file has already been important and it seems Audition ignores files with the same name even if they have different sizes.

Is there a way to force Audition to reimport the growing file or are there any other best practices for that workflows?

Best case would be, if we could relink/refresh that imported file after a while - maybe manually by reflinking it.

Best regards,

I was having the exact same issues. I am using Reaper to bring the audio in and start the recording process but I was not able to get Audition to update the growing file until I kept playing around with it. I found that I had to open Audition press (CTRL+I) to insert the file. Once the file is imported into Audition click File >Open Append > To Current. This will update the file. The only downside to this is you have to keep doing the "File >Open Append > To Current" command to update the clip. On the flip side, it helps you to keep track of what's already been edited.

I hope this helped!
