Question

Importing .SESX from transcription software Descript, no sound

That's pretty much the issue in a nutshell.

Descript it an online transcription software that allows you to edit text AND audio. If you haven't used it yet, I highly recommend. But there's one problem...when I export the session from Descript and try to open it in Audition, there's no sound! The level meter indicates zero output when the session is playing.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or have thoughts on it?

Have you got this working predictably yet, alessandraw? Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Okay, if you've got files in the display, it's moving and no meter output, you need to look at Audition's mixer. It looks as though you've got the track output routed directly to the Master output, which is correct - so you need to open the mixer and make sure that both the channel and master fader are at 0dB, for a start... and also make sure that your master output is routed directly to your sound device. If there's nothing wrong with any of that, then report back...

The channel and master fader are indeed at 0dB.

I'm unsure what you're staying when you talk about making sure the master input is routed to my sound device...which device are you referring to?

I didn't say input, I said output! And the sound device is either an external interface, or an internal device in your computer that provides your speaker or headphone output.

More to the point, if you open the mixer and hit 'play', do you get any level meter indications, either in the channel or master?

Assuming you have the audio as well as the sesx I am happy to have a look at the sesx file if you want to post it

Thanks! I'd love that. This is the first time I'm using the forum and not sure how to post the file itself...I just googled it and didn't find much in the way of a how-to, though maybe I didn't put in the right search terms.

If you know of a instruction guide, could you post it here and then I'll post the session?

Just email it to me (though be aware that it is a bit after 3am here in Sydney so I may not get back to you before tomorrow - my time)

I have one very simple thought, and that is that .sesx files don't have any sound in them anyway! All a sesx file is is a descriptor for a session - the audio still has to be imported as actual audio files before you'll hear anything.

So do you see an actual waveform on the screen?

thanks for writing, Steve.

I do see a waveform in the DAW, and on the lefthand side it does indicate that the .wav files are present. See image below. Maybe you'll see something I'm missing? I'm stumped.
